Earth Day Tree Care at Cesar Chavez Academy

Where: Cesar Chavez Academy, 2450 Ralmar Avenue, East Palo Alto, CA
Date: April 19, 2014
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Details: Come celebrate Earth Day with Canopy as we do much needed tree care work on young trees at Cesar Chavez Academy. The day will mostly consist of weeding, mulching, watering, and adjusting or removing stakes as needed. Trained pruning volunteers will be needed as well. All tools and equipment will be provided and snacks will be provided in the morning. We encourage you to bring reusable water bottles. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and sign a waiver (or have your parent/guardian sign a waiver if you are under 18 years old). This event is full for regular volunteers, but TREE CARE LEADERS are still needed. Email Maika (maika@canopy.org) if you are a planting leader that can help out.

Great Race for Saving Water

Where: Baylands Athletic Center, 1900 Geng Road, Palo Alto, CA

Details: Canopy is pleased to join the second annual Great Race for Saving Water, organized by the City of Palo Alto. This family-friendly 5K fun-run will kick off at 9:00am. Stay after the race for crafts and activities for all ages. Register on the City of Palo Alto website.

DriWater Refill - Brentwood and Cesar Chavez

Where: Brentwood Elementary School - 2086 Clarke Ave East Palo Alto, CA 94303
Date: May 3, 2014
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Details: We don't want our young trees to get thirsty! Canopy uses highly water-efficient DriWater gel to provide moisture for many of our recently-planted trees. During this volunteer day, we will refill the driwater gels at Brentwood Academy and Cesar Chavez Elementary School. It will be a small but family-friendly work day. Click here to sign up.

May Fete Parade and Festival

Details: Join the City of Palo Alto, Canopy, and many more friends for a beloved Palo Alto tradition! The Parade will begin at 10AM and will end at Heritage Park, where there will be plenty of activities and fun for all. Gamble Garden Canopy Tree Walk

Where: Waverley Street & Embarcadero Rd, Palo Alto, CA

Details: Come with Canopy and expert arborist Ralph Mize to explore Gamble Garden neighborhood trees. We'll learn about species like the California Buckeye, Cucumber Tree, Cockspur Coral Tree, Japanese Persimmon Hachiya, and many more! This Tree Walk begins at the Elizabeth F.
