Tree Planter

Tree Planter Job Description 

Plant new street trees in your neighborhood or other parts of the city. No experience needed. Canopy will provide training and tools at each planting site. Plantings are held several Saturday mornings throughout the fall and winter and proceed rain or shine. Sign up for the plantings that best suit your schedule. Survey Volunteer

Survey Volunteer Job Description 

Make a difference in the life of a tree by joining Canopy’s Survey Team. Canopy needs volunteers to survey the health of young trees and help encourage residents to care for their trees. Working in teams, volunteers survey young trees throughout Palo Alto during the summer months and leave information for residents. Volunteers can survey their area and get to know their neighbors.

Project Leader

Project Leader Job Description 

Teach others to plant and take care of trees, then lead small teams of volunteers during Canopy workdays. Training will be provided at a hands-on project leader workshop. After completing the training, Project Leaders will be asked to assist Canopy with at least three workdays in the upcoming year.

Writer

Writer Job Description 

Enjoy writing? Have a good idea for an article you would like to see in print? Join our writing team and contribute articles for newsletters, email updates and other publications as your schedule allows.

Event Volunteer

Event Volunteer Job Description 

Join us for a party! Canopy needs volunteers to help at various events and gatherings. Check the calendar for upcoming events or contact Canopy for more information.

Office Assistant

Office Assistant Job Description 

Office Support tasks may include data entry, website updates, filing, photocopying, running errands, etc. Office Support Volunteers work closely with staff members in the office or from home if the task permits.

Tree Walks or Tabling Representative

Help us out by learning more about Canopy and representing us at local community tabling events or assisting an ISA-trained arborist on a monthly Tree Walk.

Workshop Assistant

Help out at a Canopy workshop or seminar.  Job opportunities can involve everything from preparing content, assembling materials, or lending some of your expertise in a particular area.  Workshops are wonderful opportunities to deepen your knowledge, and our assistants always learn a lot in the process.
